PROBLEM: CARPET STIFFNESS AFTER CLEANING
CAUSES: Stiffness in carpet after cleaning can occur for several reasons...
-
Over use of chemicals.
-
Improper chemical use.
-
Hard water.
-
Emulsification of soluble residues that are not completely extracted.
-
However, the most common cause is residue not completely removed during the cleaning process.
SOLUTION:
-
Usually a slight stiffness problem will correct itself after it has been vacuumed once or twice.
-
In mild cases pile lifting with Cleancare’s “Grandi Groom” or a pile lifting machine may be necessary.
-
If the problem is severe, re-cleaning the area using the normal amount of detergent for good soil suspension and to reduce soil re-deposition will usually correct the problem.
-
Following the cleaning of carpets affected by stiffness, sour the carpet lightly with Cleancare’s “Textile Rinse” to neutralise any detergent residues.
-
Always set the pile with a groomer or nap brush such as Cleancare’s “Grandi Groom” after cleaning and use Turbo Dryers to speed dry the carpet.
-
Dry vacuuming may be necessary following wet cleaning procedures.
