Attaching the Orbiter skirt.
Tools required : 2 pairs of pliers, 1 small pop rivet/nail
TIP THE ORBITER ONTO IT'S BACK FOR EASY POSITIONING
1) Position skirt loosely around the rubber bumper on the base of machine.
2) Tighten metal tie loosely around the base and cut off excess metal to leave approximately 8cm each end exposed.
3) Use a small nail or pop rivet and wind approximately 3-4 turns of one end of the metal tie around it to create a looped eyelet, see Fig 2 below.
4) Feed other end of the metal tie through the eyelet and tighten further into position, ensure that the tie sits in the groove of the rubber bumper.
5) Tighten/compact the eyelet with pliers.
6) Shape the metal tie by gently bending it with your hands to fit the corners at the bottom of the base to ensure a good fit when finally tightened.
7) Use pliers to hold the eyelet and pull the other end of the tie with the other pair of pliers while ensuring that the skirt is now sitting neatly in the groove of the bumper. Bend the tie back over the eyelet to prevent slippage.
8) Remove the skirt from the base.
9) Pull the tie through the eyelet a further 1- 1.5 cm for a completely tight fit and lock off the tie by turning the endaround the eyelet and cut off excess. Compact eyelet and tied end to ensure no sharp points are left and the join will sit neatly into the groove of the bumper.
10) Slightly twist the rubber bumber inwards on the base to loosen it.
11) Position the now fully tightened skirt onto the bumper ensuring it fits in the correct position in the groove, with the corners correctly aligned with the vacuum inlet in the correct position. see Fig 1 above.
12) Push the bumper and skirt back into the normal position and this will tighten the skirt at the same time.
13) Ensure that the skirt fabric is evenly distributed around the bumper.
